Shine the Light of Jesus on Halloween
{serve our church and community}
This Halloween (Oct. 31!), four of our families -- with help from their lifegroups -- are hosting block parties in their neighborhoods. The block parties will serve a few purposes.
a) We are going to feed our neighbors hot dogs and candy.
b) We are going to meet & greet our neighbors. This does not consist of criticizing the condition of their yards. Their dogs. Or their schedules for Christmas lights.
c) We are going to share with them our church. And we are going to invite them into our church for a free Movie Night on Nov. 16.
Why? Because we are striving to live Christ-centered lives, seven days a week.
The Families:
John & Becky Black
Nate & Kari Bock
Chad & Audrey Garrison
Not you? Not your Faith Family or lifegroup? This is what YOU can do.
#1 Spread the word. Tell folks what we're doing. If your friends live in these neighborhoods, tell them to come say, "Hi." We love meeting your people!
#2 Pray for the hosts of the block parties. As Sarah Thornton wrote in the October newsletter, "Pray for our block parties to open up opportunities to serve others. Pray for one another as we seek to share the Gospel on Halloween and every day."
#3 Donate candy and bottled water on Oct. 14, 21 and 28. Collection bins are in the Preschool and Children's Halls. We are also accepting monetary donations for hot dogs.
#4 Do what we're doing. Feed trick-or-treaters candy and invite them to the free Movie Night on Nov. 16. Invitation cards are available Oct. 28 in the seed buckets around church. Or share the one below on Facebook, Twitter, your blog, Pinterest, etc.
